Starbucks Workers United is a nascent trade union and a beacon of hope for the modern labor movement. In mid-2022, working with union committees, we set out on various marketing, design and organizing initiatives, both local and national. This consisted of designing the seal for the Illinois chapter, assisting with social media profiles, designing flyers for local and national distribution, and a reddit AMA.
The seal reflects the varied beauty and history of the state of Illinois, referencing the prairies and “amber waves of grain” which cover the state, its strong connection to the Mississippi River and Lake Michigan, and Chicago’s pivotal connections to the labor movement across the globe.
